Creazy Sexy Diet: Too Exteme for Beginners? - Tracy Rose
21-day diet plan puts focus on optimal health to reduce inflammation, remove toxins, eliminate carb cravings, balance pH and lose weight.

Best-selling author, Kris Carr, advocates healthy living with her new 21-day diet plan. Her new book, The Crazy Sexy Diet, inspired by the knowledge that she had cancer, lays out a somewhat extreme diet. The ideas presented in The Crazy Sexy Diet may be effective for weight loss, but for many, they are extrme lifestyle changes that would be difficult to sustain.

The Gist of The Crazy Sexy Diet

Carr, a raw food advocate, details a diet that is low-fat, vegetarian, glucose free, low glycemic and rich in whole foods. She says that what you eat determines how you feel. So the first step is to rid the toxins from your body. One goal is to eat less meat and dairy and get rid of carb cravings. She offers 21 days worth of recipes, which include the use of green smoothies.

The Crazy Sexy Diet is more about healthy living than weight loss, though its highly likely you would lose weight following this type of diet plan. Eating the way the book descibes reduces inflammation, which is closely linked to obesity. This anti-inflammatory diet also regulates your pH level. It provides a list of the (good) alkaline foods and the (bad) acidic foods.

The Book Itself

The Crazy Sexy Diet book is laid out in a fun, easy to read style. The colors pop out at you and the tips make it a fast way to read the key parts of the book. The style Carr uses is informal. She presents very serious topics in a flirty kind of way. Maybe that's where the sexy part comes into play? Either way, its not by any means a clinical type of book. She uses abrassive straight talk to describe poop, for example.

Who Is The Crazy Sexy Diet For?

Carr makes a lot of good points about healthy living in her book, but the suggestions also seem a bit extreme. Overweight and obese people might want to start off with a diet that is easier to follow and doesn't require them to make these extreme changes right off the bat.

Going from a 6,000 calorie day to a vegetarian meal plan without meat, dairy or highly acidic foods may be too drastic of a change. Instead, I think this book is more for the advanced diet. Maybe you've already made healthy changes in your diet and adjusted to them and you are ready to take it a step further. Furthermore, I think her audience will be those who have suffered major health scares. While the advice in her book may prevent illnesses, its probably not the first step for the average dieter who is interested in losing some weight.
